Sleepless in Deutschland

Hi Everyone,

A quick one today, but a goody.

First, check out my piece on Jewish Hardcore in Zeek (originally appeared in the print version, now available online).

Second, get your wallets ready for the release of "The Heebie-Jeebies at CBGB's..." in paperback this April. The book will also appear in translation in Germany this October -- as will I (appear in Germany, that is, though not necessarily in translation).

Third, keep your calendars open for readings/concerts centered around my new insomnia anthology, "AWAKE: A Reader for the Sleepless."

These take place:

1.) Tuesday, Feb. 26 @ The Mercantile Library, NYC.

2.) Thursday, April 3 @ The Middle East, Cambridge, MA -- (Will also include avant-garde music similar to that at Atwood's Tavern [see my previous blog], lots of local readers, and [are you sitting down?] free beer from Pabst!)

3.) Sunday, April 13 @ The KGB, NYC.

More details on all of these -- as well as additional readings currently in the works -- soon.

Auf wiedersehen!

I can't help but marvel at the sheer irony of this book being translated into German. It's going to send shock waves through Deutschland! In the words of Woody Allen - "Vhat vill dem Goyim say?!" :-)

Hey Hebrewzzi (like the name!)

Perhaps you should come along on my author's tour as the official beer sponsor.

Seriously, the publisher in Germany has been great and is paying for me to help launch the book in October. I'm really looking forward to it.

As ironic as it is (and what isn't in the world of Jewpunk?), you've really got to hand it to today's Germans. They've addressed their history thoroughly, honestly and consistently. More than I can say for US in the U.S.A. who've yet to own up to our own genocide of the Native Americans much less establish a memorial to our crime in our capital.

btw, nice use of the Woody quote. The resuscitation/reintegration scene in "Sleeper," right?
